Boiler Repair in Mount Pleasant, NC
In Mount Pleasant most households heat with something else — oil reaches 5%. The practical effect is on response time rather than on the equipment, and it is worth planning around rather than discovering.
In brief
In Mount Pleasant, fuel oil accounts for 5% of household heating against 7% for gas. Where oil is this much of a minority, finding somebody who services burners matters more than describing what the boiler is doing.

How Mount Pleasant heats
Being one of the few oil households in a town changes availability rather than the machine. Fewer contractors nearby service burners routinely, and February is the wrong month to find that out.
Establishing who does the work before you need them is the whole of the advice here, and it costs nothing in September.
| Households in Mount Pleasant | Share |
|---|---|
| Fuel oil and kerosene | 5% |
| Gas — mains and bottled | 7% |
| Electricity | 79% |
| Wood, coal, solar or no fuel | 8% |
Across the 49 towns we cover in North Carolina, 7% of households heat with oil. Mount Pleasant sits 18 points above that.

Whether it feeds a boiler or a warm-air furnace is not in the table, and no published figure at this geography settles it.
Carbon monoxide
The reason CPSC ties annual servicing to CO is that the failure is in the combustion or the venting rather than in the fuel. A system that heats perfectly well can be venting badly, and nothing inside the house will tell you except an alarm.

Hot water or steam
If there is a gauge reading in pounds per square inch and a tank somewhere above or beside the boiler, it is a hot water system. If there is a glass tube on the side of the boiler with a water line visible in it, it is steam. The two fail differently and are serviced differently.
Steam is the older arrangement and survives mostly in older housing, which is where a good share of the oil heat in this state is.

What to ask whoever comes
Ask whether the appliance is hot water or steam, and what its AFUE is. DOE’s minimums run 82 to 86 percent depending on fuel and type, so those two facts decide what a like-for-like comparison even means.
