How the Introduction Works

Three steps, and the first one takes a minute in the basement.

In brief

Have two readings in front of you before anybody visits: what the pressure gauge says, and whether the boiler is showing a lockout code. The introduction is free to the household, and the contractor who takes the call is the one who pays for it.

BoilerBridge is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. Every state page sets out who licenses plumbers there and where to check, so you can confirm before work begins. We carry out no work, we sell no equipment, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

Read the gauge, and note the pattern

The pressure when the system is cold, the pressure when it is hot, and which rooms are cold. Those three facts narrow the problem more than any description of the noise it is making, and they survive a visit on a day the system behaves.

Know what you have

Oil or gas, hot water or steam. Four combinations, different machines, different service regimes and different federal efficiency minimums. Saying which when you call starts the first visit further along.

Call and we route it

The number on this site connects you to an independent contractor covering your area. We pass on what you tell us. We do not quote, schedule or supervise the work.

What we will warn you off

Do not keep resetting a boiler that has locked out — one reset is reasonable, a second is a call. Do not cap, plug or adjust a relief valve. And if there is any smell of fuel or exhaust, or a CO alarm sounds, leave and call 911 from outside.

A boiler is not a furnace, and the person you want knows the difference.Tell us it is a boiler, tell us what the gauge reads if you can see it, and we will route you to somebody in your area who works on them. You are never charged. Boilers give this site its name and not its limits.
