Boiler Repair in Woodbine, NJ
With 19% of homes on oil, Woodbine has a real oil minority rather than a token one. That usually means you have a choice of contractor, which is not true everywhere.
In brief
Fuel oil heats 19% of homes in Woodbine, a substantial minority alongside gas at 49%. Which one a property burns decides the trade as much as the fault does, because an oil burner is a serviced appliance and a gas boiler is a different machine with different controls.

How Woodbine heats
With the town divided, the thing that does not divide is the physics. Every hydronic system is a closed loop under pressure with an expansion tank and a relief valve, and the gauge tells you about all three whatever is burning underneath.
| Households in Woodbine | Share |
|---|---|
| Fuel oil and kerosene | 19% |
| Gas — mains and bottled | 49% |
| Electricity | 17% |
| Wood, coal, solar or no fuel | 16% |
Across the 113 towns we cover in New Jersey, 12% of households heat with oil. Woodbine sits about level with that.
Source: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates, table B25040 (house heating fuel), 2023 release. Universe: 3,155 occupied housing units. The Census asks what the house is heated with, not what equipment does the heating. The oil share above therefore includes furnaces as well as boilers.
Carbon monoxide
Carbon monoxide has no smell and no color, which is why the alarm matters more than your own senses do. CPSC recommends alarms on every level and outside sleeping areas, and an annual professional inspection of the heating system whatever it burns.

Hot water or steam
The quickest way to tell is the water. A hot water system is a sealed loop under pressure with a gauge reading psi; a steam system boils, sends vapor up and lets the condensate run back down by gravity. They are serviced differently and they fail differently, and knowing which you have shortens the first call.

What to ask whoever comes
Ask whether the temperature control was commissioned or merely fitted. DOE requires an automatic means for adjusting water temperature on hot water boilers, and a control nobody set up delivers none of what it is for.
